    Whether you’re about to become a grandparent for the first time or you’ve been down this road before, this class is perfect for anyone who wants to refresh their newborn care knowledge. You’ll learn what’s changed since your kids were babies and get practical tips for building a strong, positive relationship with the new parents.

    • The latest newborn safety, sleep, and feeding guidelines

    • Soothing strategies to calm a fussy baby

    • Hands-on practice with diapering, swaddling, and more using realistic demo dolls

    • Tips for supporting without overstepping, including navigating modern parenting trends

    • Opportunities to connect and share with other grandparents

    • Helpful handouts and resource lists to take home

    • You can sign up as an individual grandparent or choose the “couple” option if you’d like to attend with your partner or a friend who will share in your grandparenting journey.

    • This class is designed specifically for expectant grandparents. By keeping the group to grandparents only, we create a comfortable space to ask questions, share concerns, and discuss relationship dynamics with the new parents openly and without worry.

    • This is a one-day, 3 hour class

    Ideal for expectant parents who want to feel confident and prepared for life with a newborn. Whether this is your first baby or you’re looking for a refresher, this class focuses on practical skills, realistic expectations, and evidence-based guidance for your baby’s first weeks and months.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most parents-to-be find that taking our Prepared Parenting In-Depth Class during the third trimester (between 28 and 36 weeks) is ideal. This ensures the information is fresh in your mind as you prepare for your baby’s arrival.

  • No need to pack a bag! I provide all the necessary supplies for our sessions, including bottled water (though you are always welcome to bring your own reusable bottle if you prefer), pens, and paper for notes. I also provide demo dolls for you to use during class, so you can get hands-on practice with swaddling, diapering, and soothing techniques.

    Light snacks will be provided during 4 hour classes.

  • Baby safety guidelines have changed significantly over the last few decades. My Ready, KelSet, Grandparent! refresher covers modern updates on SIDS prevention, car seat safety, and how to best support the new parents while respecting their boundaries.

  • Absolutely. While our group classes are held in Chapel Hill, I provide private, in-home educational consultations throughout the Triangle, including Moncure, Pittsboro, Raleigh, Durham and beyond. For those outside the area or who prefer digital learning, I also offer virtual/on-demand services and personalized online classes.

  • Yes! I am always open to partnering with local businesses, community centers, churches, and organizations throughout the Triangle to provide on-site workshops or private group classes. Whether you are looking for a Grandparent Refresher for your congregation or a Newborn Safety Workshop for your boutique or office, I am happy to travel to your location in Chapel Hill, Raleigh, or Durham area.
